The M51 Jacket for Men and Women is inspired by the M-1951 field jacket, first issued to U.S. Army soldiers. Originally known as the Jacket, Shell, Field M-1951 in Olive Green Shade 107 (OG 107), it was made from 9-ounce cotton sateen cloth designed to withstand wind and water. Featuring four practical pockets, it was officially designated as the M-1951 field coat in November 1956, cementing its status as a military standard item with a timeless appeal.
Today, that same military DNA is still around, but it has been changed to fit current times. This improved M51 jacket stays true to the original style while making it more suitable for daily use. It is made from a mix of cotton and polyester, so it is tough and doesn’t feel stiff. The viscose lining makes the jacket comfortable, smooth, and easy to wear all day long. As in the original, pockets are still very important here. With two inside pockets and four outside pockets, you have plenty of room without losing style.
This jacket’s ability to be worn in many different ways is what makes it truly unique. You can choose from several collar styles, such as a classic look, a closed one, or even a classic style with a hood. The cuffs are different too; some designs have hooked cuffs, and others use belts to make the cuffs look better.
