Buy Shaft Movie Coats and Jackets

With an average IMDb rating of 77%, shaft movies have always remained a fan favorite since their inception in 1972. Originally played by Richard Roundtree, the character “John Shaft” has evolved with changing times and what it means to be a man in each generation. Men look up to the way these icons are dressed while women fan themselves while watching his movies. This crime thriller series has seen four sequels, each with a storyline of their own. In the 1970 series, John Shaft is seen evolving from a detective tracing a kidnapped daughter to investigating the murder of a friend and getting caught up in a war between two gangs. In the final Shaft movie of the 1970 series, we see Richard Roundtree (the original John Shaft) pose as an undercover detective to uncover a slave racketeering ring in Africa. In the 2000 movie, generation changes, John Shaft II (played by Samuel L. Jackson) is introduced to the audience when he takes on a more political activist role after a murderer is bailed despite being guilty of racial violence. The final movie sees a third John Straft (more relatable to the MZ Generation) starring alongside the other John Shafts of previous movies, where the FBI detective takes the help of his father (and grandfather) to uncover the mysterious death of his friend.

John Straft’s Leather Coat And jackets

Over 50 years, we witnessed John Straft’s evolution with changing times. Consequently, it also influenced how people viewed masculine fashion as a whole. The original shaft costumes comprise a long, typical shaft leather jacket and leather coats. By the 2000s, John Shaft is seen with a bald hairline minus the full mustache. By 2019, John Shaft goes through a makeover, and we see him deviating from typical shaft outfits into more trench coats and lighter colors. However, throughout this transformation, one thing remains constant: classic shaft jackets, shaft coats paired with denim jeans, and squinting distrustful eyes.

So whether it’s nostalgia that is hitting or you just find John Shaft style and his classic Shaft leather coats cool, head to the Shaft movie outfits tab and explore all the Shaft movie coats and jackets worn by both John Shaft senior and junior.
