After a series of events, a creature called the Mind Flayer would emerge from the portal, which would be defeated by the Party with the help of Police Chief Jim Hopper, Murray Bauman, and Joyce Byers.

Once the mind flayer was killed, getting everything back to normal needed some doing. Although the creature might have been dealt with, the destruction it caused, on the other hand, was not that easy to deal with. Some found it a bit more difficult than others to get over this tragic event, and Robin was one of them. The Starcourt Mall was also closed down, and understandably so. But that meant Robin would lose her job at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream and would be unemployed for three months. Now on the lookout for a new job, it didn’t take too long for Robin to get another job. This time around, she, as well as Steve, would go for a job interview at a video store located in downtown Hawkins called the Family Video Store. Robin easily gets the job; however, the employer, Keith, is quite reluctant to hire Steve.

But Robin once again proved to be a true friend and convinced Keith to hire Steve. The Mind Flayer was only just a pawn in someone else’s game. That someone is Vecna, who is the most evil of villains and is the main antagonist of the series. It was just the beginning as more creatures and monsters from the Upside Down, such as Dark Wizard and Vecna, would follow through. These creatures would break into Hawkins to cause mayhem over the course of the series. Soon everyone learns that all of this is the doing of Vecna all along. But with the friendship that the members of the Party had formed and with their loyalty residing on one another, they would deal with every creature one at a time. Defeating Vecna would put an end to a series of catastrophic events that started with the disappearance of Will Byers.
