It is that the show has a lot of characters in it. They are diverse and unique in their own right. With such an abundance of great characters on display, there are few that escape the watchful eye. And Suzie Stranger Things is one of them whom we’ll talk about in this blog.

Who is Suzie Bingham in Stranger Things?

Suzie Bingham

Suzie Bingham is one of the recurring characters of the Stranger Things TV show. She was introduced to the show in an episode called “Chapter One: Suzie, Do You Copy?” which is the first episode of the third season of Stranger Things. Suzie lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her family. She has three sisters and four brothers whose names are Eden, Tabitha, Tatum, Cornelius, Sterling, Tanner, and Peter, respectively. Her family is Mormon, and they are religious people who are devoted to their faith and have strict household rules. But despite all that, Suzie has a bright side to her, and her interests in life make her something of a nerd. She is into science and technology and all the things concerning them. She also likes to read fantasy novels as well as comic books from time to time. These are some of the hobbies that Suzie has.

Meeting Dustin Henderson

Suzie Bingham went on a camping trip in May of 1985 to a summer camp called Camp Know Where. All the children that are into technology go to this sleepaway camp. It was on this trip that Suzie met Dustin Henderson for the first time. Their first meeting was a bit different than usual, and it came about when Dustin got off the bus at camp to face two bullies. Suzie, among other students, watched in awe the heroics of Dustin as it happened and were so amazed by it that they applauded him right after. This act of standing up against the bullies, even if it was just a verbal defense, made Suzie fancy Dustin. From then on, she would start developing feelings for him that were helped by his heroics earlier. She was impressed when Dustin told her about his stories and what life is like at Hawkins.

Misunderstandings and Clear ups

Suzie and Dustin

Despite the brief interaction that Suzie and Dustin had between them on the bus, the two did not get a chance to properly introduce each other. Suzie tried to approach Dustin after taking advice from a counselor named Dawn to talk to Dustin about science, as it was a topic of interest that both had in common. But Suzie’s approach was cut short and rebuffed right away as Dustin was busy working on his game session. She misheard Dustin and mistook the rebuke for herself, much to her dismay. As a result, she turned away and walked away from there without introducing herself to Dustin. A day later, Dustin and Suzie happened to be doing their work in the same field. Dustin saw her but continued to carry on with his work. Suzie then proceeded to talk to Dustin once again but was stopped in her tracks once more.

She then ran away from there as she thought Dustin called out in anger to stop her from coming towards him. But it was not quite the case, as Dustin did not know that it was Suzie. And when he realized that she mistook his anger for herself, Dustin was filled with regret for his lack of knowledge and the misunderstanding it had created. To make amends as well as clear the misunderstanding, Dustin went looking for Suzie and tracked her down. When he found her, he expressed his sorrow by telling her how bad he felt. He tried to explain to her that she mistook his anger, which was for something else entirely. With the air all cleared up, the two finally got the chance to properly introduce each other and talk to one another. From then on, both Suzie and Dustin would be on good terms.

Friendship Turned into Love

From that point on, Suzie and Dustin would develop a real friendship that would last for years to come. And their bond would get stronger with time as they would spend a month or so together after meeting one another. And as anything but everyone expected and could sense, the two would start developing feelings for one another that is more than just friendship. It would not be long before the pair expressed their feelings to one another and became an official couple because time was of the essence. The two got to do many things together, including sharing a love for both the main song from The NeverEnding Story as well as doing some mathematical equations here and there.

And when June came around, it was finally time to say goodbye to one another as their camping trip at Camp Know Where had come to an end. But before the two went their separate ways, Dustin came up with an incredible idea that could make him stay in touch with Suzie at all times. Dustin used all of his genius skills in science and technology to build a device called Cerebro. It is actually a ham radio that can be used to communicate from long distances, making it possible to stay in touch with people you love. Dustin also gave Suzie his signature cap so that whenever she missed him, she could look at the cap and reminisce about him.

The Long Wait

When Dustin got back to Hawkins, he told his friends all about Suzie and the Cerebro he had built to contact Suzie. They all did the best they could to make the Cerebro work by putting it at the highest point in Hawkins, but the radio simply would not work. This created a lot of doubt among Dustin’s friends, who believed that Suzie did not exist and told Dustin that he had been dreaming all along. And on the other side, all of this created a world of sadness for Suzie, who could not understand why Dustin was not contacting her. And likewise, Dustin felt the same and was trying his hardest to get the radio working but was having no luck with it so far. The waiting game began, but after five days of trying and being unsuccessful, Dustin was finally able to contact Suzie, much to her surprise.

Suzie was not expecting to hear from Dustin at all, as it had been more than five days since he last spoke to her. But regardless of the wait and everything, they finally got in touch, and Suzie asked him where he had been and what he was up to. Dustin told her all about the strange things that were going down in the town of Hawkins. He told her how he played his part to save the world from Russians and monsters.

Saving the World

Suzie’s nerdiness and genius-minded skills would turn out to be something more than just a thing for nerds. Her skills would come in handy to save the day for the Party on quite a few occasions. On one occasion, it would turn out to be Suzie’s mathematical knowledge that would result in her deciding the fate of Hawkins and saving it eventually. And who else could go looking for Suzie’s help than Dustin himself or, as Suzie likes to call him, “Dusty Bun.” Dustin contacted his “Suzie Poo” (yes, that is what he calls her) to get Planck’s Constant, to which Suzie asked him a mathematical equation instead.

She told him that he should know the mathematical equation as it is necessary to save the world. After Suzie sang a duet with Dustin to the theme song for The NeverEnding Story, she gave him Planck’s Constant at the end. The Planck’s Constant was then used by Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers to unlock a safe that had keys inside it. Dustin told Suzie what her little help meant in the bigger picture and that it ended up saving the world, much to her delight.

Getting into a World of Trouble

After the initial help, Dustin realized what magic Suzie’s skills could do and how they could help turn around any situation. Although he was not selfish by any means, he did seek her help from time to time. Dustin was not a bright student, to say the least, and his grades reflected that more than clearly. Dustin got a D- in Latin, and realizing that this grade could mean him failing school or, worse, getting expelled, he reached out to Suzie, asking for her help. He wanted Suzie to change his grades, which did not sit very well with her at first, but after a while, she reluctantly agreed to do so. These are the things that you have to do for someone you love, and Suzie followed suit as she hacked into the Hawkins High School computer program.

Despite not wanting to do so, Suzie changed Dustin’s grade into something that would get him just across the line. But this was all too much for her, and as a result, she made a promise that she would repent this sin of hers. But that was not the end of it, as she could not keep the secret to herself for long and decided to tell her father about it. And as expected, her father became furious and angered over her daughter’s rebellious actions. But it was more about the fact she was in a relationship with a person that has questions about god and faith. As a consequence, a punishment was on the way, which came in the form of Suzie getting grounded and her computer getting taken away from her permanently. Her father started using the computer himself and kept it in his study, which is locked.

Even though the computer was taken away from Suzie, she still kept in touch with Dustin and contacted him through the Cerebro device that Dustin had given her. After a little while, Mike Wheeler, Will Byers, Jonathan Byers, and Argyle would visit her to get her help. They wanted to get the phone number of one computer as well as trace its location. The group told Suzie that it was for a promotion for a new gaming console, which they could win and give to Dustin as a present on his Birthday. Suzie decided to help them out and gave them the coordinates of that computer. That was the last we saw of Suzie from season 3 and 4. And you can be sure that Suzie’s story in Stranger Things is not over yet. You can expect to see more of her in the upcoming season 5 of Stranger Things.
