Star: Zosia Mamet’s New Show Laid Brings Her Dark Comedy Laid with an Exploration on Love and Grief When Laid premieres exclusively in Peacock on 19 December, 2024 The plot focuses on Ruby. She played by Stephanie Hsu discovers her past loves begin to die mysteriously while searching her love history which is complicated enough to handle. Playing AJ, Mamet gives a lot of depth to this tale of interestingly imperfect relationships and surprising outcomes.
AJ is one such character for which Mamet’s definition of complex women is evidently depicted. In Laid, Mamet, whose breakthrough role in Shoshanna Shapiro in HBO’s Girls made her notorious, brings her signature humor and tenderness to the project. Flexibility will mark this new role as she portrays darker aspects of love while retaining that humor tinge.
